Samhain Cinnamon Roll Triskele Centerpiece

1 cup milk, warmed to the touch (temp at 110°F or 45°C)
6 tablespoons granulated sugar
2-1/2 teaspoons quick-rise yeast desolved (or look for instant or rapid-rise yeast)
1 large egg, room temperature, beaten
1/4 teaspoon salt

3 1/2 cups all purpose (or plain) flour
//*add wet ingredients to the flour, mix on med-med.hi until dough ball forms
1/4 cup melted butter
//add to dough, mix by hand until it forms a ball
Cooking oil or spray bottom, sides of glass or metal bowl (oven safe)

Place in oven next to 1-2c boiled water

Roll out onto a floured surface into a rectangle shape (about the width of your small finger)
1/2 stick softened butter over top, evenly

3.5 tablespoons butter, softened
3/4 cup loosely packed brown sugar
2-3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
//pack on top of butter, leave 1 inch lip plain to seal the roll together.

1 center, shape into triangle
3 one on each side of the triangle
1 unrolled cut into equal ribbon’s
//place ribons in ‘S’ shape going same direction over the outer triskele and then under to join the center triskele
note: make sure all rolls go in same direction

1/4c butter, softened
1/4c shortening
1c powdered sugar
1-2tsp flavor, extract
few drops food color


Warm the milk to 110*F or 45*C.  Add sugar, yeast then let set for 10 minutes.

Add egg mixture to milk mixture.  Add this wet mix to the flour & mix med-medhi for 1-2 minutes.  Remove from pan, add 1/2 stick butter & kneed by hand until dough forms a nice ball.  Place in oiled bowl/pan let rise in warm oven next to 2c hot water for 1 hour.

Remove from oven and place on flour surface.  Shape by hand into a rectangle then roll out into a flat large rectagle about -1.5 to 2 ft long and 1 foot tall.  Should be 1/3-1/2 inch thick.  Cover with .5 stick softened butter then add the sugar/cinnamon layer on top.  *Leave 1inch at bottom with no cinnamon/sugar just a little butter so the roll can seal together.

Cut 5 3″inch circles place on pan.  1 in the center and shape into triangle.  Place one roll on each side of triangle, then the fifth roll unroll it & cut it into 3 even strips.  *Place each strip on one of the outer circles starting on top, roll around the side, go under and seal it onto the center.  (Follow video if you get lost here.)

Bake 350* 18-25min until done.  Dark pans will cook quicker.

Icing as desired.
